System Description
Calcium and magnesium hardness in boiler feed water undergoes chemical reactions or crystallization in high-temperature environments, forming scale that adheres firmly to the boiler's heating surfaces. This scale is a poor thermal conductor that hinders heat transfer, which in severe cases can lead to boiler tube bursts. Furthermore, it induces and exacerbates under-deposit chemical corrosion of the metal, posing a significant hazard. Although boiler condensate and feed water undergo rigorous softening and demineralization, trace amounts of calcium and magnesium hardness still enter the boiler water. If left untreated, this residual hardness will form scale, threatening safe operation. Currently, phosphate treatment of boiler water is the most suitable method. The reaction produces hydroxyapatite, a soft sludge that is easily removed through boiler blowdown and does not adhere to the interior to form hard scale.
Process Overview
The unit primarily consists of four sections: the chemical preparation system, the metering pump dosing system, the control system, and the auxiliary system.
Solid phosphate is added to the solution tank and then diluted and dissolved with demineralized water in specific proportions. The metering pump dosing system then transports the solution to the required dosing points. The control mode can be operated manually or automatically based on control signals output from a host computer system.
Application Field
Water treatment for medium- and low-pressure drum boilers
Water treatment for high-pressure and high-parameter drum boilers
